Most backyards sit unused. Not because people don't want to be outside - but because there's nothing out there worth spending time in. No real space. No defined areas. Just grass and maybe a sad concrete slab. That's exactly the kind of situation we love to fix.

Here's what we were working with - a full backyard hardscape build using Techo-Bloc pavers. We laid out two distinct surface materials working together: a herringbone-pattern paver section under the gazebo, and large-format slab pavers making up the main patio floor. The two tie together with a curved border detail that gives the whole layout a clean, intentional feel. Every cut, every course, every joint - done by hand and done right.

What we ended up with is a backyard that has actual zones. There's a shaded lounge area under the gazebo, a dining space with room for a full table and umbrella, and a paver fire pit setup that gives you a reason to stay outside after dark. The space flows naturally from one area to the next. That's not an accident - it comes from planning the layout carefully before a single paver hits the ground.

Techo-Bloc is one of our go-to materials for jobs like this. The reason is simple - it holds up. Freeze-thaw cycles, heavy foot traffic, years of use - these pavers are built for all of it. And the color consistency and finish quality make the final product look sharp without needing much maintenance to keep it that way. That's a big deal when you're investing in your outdoor space.

This is what good hardscape work looks like in action. The crew doing the cutting, setting the pattern, screeding the base - all of it adds up to a result that doesn't just look good on day one. It looks good in year five too. If you've been sitting on a backyard patio idea, now's a great time to get it moving.
