Front steps take a beating over the years. Spalling concrete, chipped edges, and a rusted-out railing - it all adds up to an entry that looks rough and, more importantly, starts to feel unsafe. That was exactly what we were dealing with here.

We started by applying a fresh parge coat over the existing concrete structure. This smoothed out all the surface damage and gave us a solid, clean base to work with. From there, we set new limestone treads across every step. Limestone holds up well outside and gives the whole entry a much sharper, more finished look compared to bare concrete.

The old railing got replaced with a new aluminum system. Aluminum doesn't rust, it's low maintenance, and when it's installed clean and plumb, it makes the whole staircase feel solid. That combination - smooth parging, natural stone treads, and a fresh handrail - is a big upgrade over what was there before.

The difference between a tired entry and a polished one usually comes down to a few focused improvements. You don't always need to tear everything out and start over. Sometimes the structure is fine, and it's just the surfaces and hardware that need attention. That's where masonry work like this really earns its keep.
